Appia Roadmap: Eurosystem report on the public consultation published

29 October 2026

On 28 October, the European Central Bank (ECB) published the Eurosystem report on the public consultation regarding the Appia Roadmap, an initiative aimed at developing a European tokenized financial ecosystem while preserving the role of central bank money in the settlement of transactions.

The consultation gathered feedback from both public and private sector stakeholders to ensure that Appia's strategic direction is aligned with market needs and public policy objectives, as well as to identify potential areas for collaboration between the public and private sectors.

The consultation results will serve as a basis for further engagement with stakeholders in the next phases of the project. The report does not take a position on Appia's possible architectural models, which are still under evaluation as part of the process for the delivery of the blueprint, planned for 2028. The Eurosystem will continue to provide updates on the project's progress.
