7th Joint Workshop on International Capital Flows and Financial Policies
The 7th Joint Workshop on 'International Capital Flows and Financial Policies' was held on 29 September at the OECD headquarters in Paris. The event was organized by Banca d'Italia in cooperation with the Bank of England, the Banque de France, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the OECD.
The conference brought together economists and policymakers to discuss the main challenges posed by international capital flows. Discussions focused on the cyclical and structural factors shaping capital flow dynamics, including the fragmentation of the international economic and financial system, the growing role of non-bank financial intermediaries, trade policies, and technological developments, such as artificial intelligence, cryptocurrencies and digital currencies.
There was a special focus on identifying the most effective economic and financial policy tools to mitigate capital flow volatility and the associated risks, thereby improving international financial stability.
