In 2013 and 2014 did the Bank of Italy ask Banca Popolare di Vicenza to 'save' Banca Etruria and Veneto Banca?

It was entirely on its own initiative that Banca Popolare di Vicenza made the merger proposal with Banca Etruria. The merger between Veneto Banca and Banca Popolare di Vicenza had already been discussed in 2014 as a project between equals, facilitated by the fact that neither bank was listed. It was abandoned owing to a lack of interest on both sides.
