Banca d'Italia - online event, 08 November 2021

Computational economics is a flourishing field, springing up in the spaces between disciplines like mathematics, computer science, physics and biostatistics.

Since the beginning of 2000, we have witnessed an explosion in the computational capabilities of cloud platforms with hardware and software solutions that foster the implementation of highly parallelized algorithms. These HW and SW solutions employ special cards with fixed or even configurable logic. In fact, beyond the ever expanding capabilities offered by fixed-logic devices such as modern CPUs and GPUs, configurable devices such as Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and Adaptive Compute Acceleration Platforms (ACAP) have proved to be a valid option for accelerating computing applications in diverse fields.

This Workshop bring together various experts from academia and industry to showcase the latest options available for solving highly complex economics problems with execution times that were thinkable even a few years ago.
