On Tuesday 11 May 2021, representatives from G20 members, guest countries and international organizations gathered virtually for the second Framework Working Group Seminar organized under the Italian G20 Presidency. The seminar focused on how to harness new information available through digitalization and private data sources for the public interest and in order to enhance policy makers' appraisal of outlook and risks and improve decision-making.
After a presentation by the Presidency of a set of high level principles to enhance data access for improving official statistics via public-private data partnerships, the seminar provided the perspective on the use of new sources of data from India (Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation), as well as from the World Bank showcasing the latest "World Development Report 2021: Data for Better Lives" and the "Development Data Partnership". The seminar included a keynote speech by Professor Catherine Tucker from MIT Sloan on the topic of privacy in the digital age.
