As part of the Eurosystem's information campaign for the launch of the new Europa series €10 banknote, today the Bank of Italy is hosting a seminar to announce the introduction of the new note in the second half of 2014. Presentations will also be made by officials of the European Central Bank and the Italian Ministry for the Economy and Finance and guests will include representatives of banks, service companies, manufacturers of cash-handling equipment, major retailers, vending machine network operators, and the various trade associations involved.
The seminar aims to promote constructive cooperation between all those engaged in the task of cash-handling, to ensure that the new banknote is universally accepted from its first day of issue, and to allow any necessary technological adaptations to be made. Officials and market operators are aware that a joint effort is needed to improve the service offered to customers and the community. This seminar is the first of a series of information events directed at a large array of operators that will take place over the coming months.
