Significant innovations have affected, in the last 15 years, the differentiated local public services. They were aimed at ensuring a more competitive framework and the separation between regulation/planning (public) and service provision (more business oriented).
In the workshop a number of papers - prepared within a research project - will be presented and discussed for the first time with academic experts, policymakers, operators. The papers analyse the evolution of the normative and regulatory framework and the current developments and results in both industrial sectors (local component of gas and energy; local transport; water supplies; waste management) and "social" services (hospitals and child care system); horizontal issue (e.g., the use of project financing and the growth processes of some big players) are also considered.
The workshop, organised by the Bank of Italy's Structural Economic Analysis Department aims at making these materials available to those working in the field and at discussing regulatory implications.
Attendance at the conference is by invitation only.
