Vai alla versione italiana Site Search

Management control is aimed at supporting decision-making processes and reporting on performance with regard to the key aspects of the value for money concept:

  • Economy: how cheaply are the inputs acquired?
  • Efficiency: how much output is produced compared to the costs?
  • Effectiveness: are the right outputs produced?

Management control relies on three pillars, from both a backward-looking and forward-looking perspective:

  1. budgeting, to allocate resources on projects and running activities;
  2. cost accounting, to measure consumption of resources for performing tasks;
  3. cost-benefit analysis, to assess alternative solutions and the value for money of new initiatives.

The objective of the seminar is to provide an overview of the rationale, principles and methods of these pillars and the related tools.
