The Economy of the Italian Regions in the year 2008 analyzes the evolution of production, the labour market, credit aggregates and local public finances in Italy's four macro-regions. Chapters and boxes on special topics focus on the effects of the economic and financial crisis on firms and on credit demand and supply at regional level.
Other special topics are the diffusion of supplementary, company-level contracts and the associated regional wage differentials, and the effects of immigration in the Italian regions. The report concludes with in-depth inquiries into two issues relating to local public finances: the expenditure and revenue of Italian municipalities; and the size and expenditure of mountain communities
