The Bank of Italy takes part in the 16th BergamoScienza Festival

From 7 to 16 October the Bank of Italy will participate in the 16th BergamoScienza Science Festival with a number of events on financial education, client protection, and on the creativity, technology and security issues behind a banknote. Starting 12 October, visitors will be able to explore the interactive exhibition La Banconota delle idee: creatività, sicurezza e tecnologia and get to know the main features and the safeguards against counterfeiting devised for the new €50 banknote, entering into circulation on 4 April 2017, as well as the modern printing technologies used for euro notes.

Also on display will be sketches of imaginary banknotes created by the students who competed for the 3rd edition of the ‘Let’s design a banknote’ prize. That will be the occasion to present the 2017 edition, on the theme ‘Designing the future: ideas for a changing world’.

The exhibition will remain open after the end of the Festival, till 30 October.

On 8 and 9 October, at the Bank of Italy’s Bergamo Branch, hands-on activities for high school students and anyone interested will focus on the circulation and handling of banknotes.
