Report on the Activity of the Banking and Financial Ombudsman for 2012

The Bank of Italy has published the report on the activity carried out in 2012 by the Banking and Financial Ombudsman, the system set up in 2009 to offer banking and financial customers an alternative dispute resolution process characterized by a low cost and capability of yielding fast results. This year's report provides more statistical information, also on a geographical basis, on the following topics: appeals received, the claimants, the results of the procedures, the intermediaries concerned. In order to foster a deeper understanding of the decisions upheld by the panels, the report contains an overview of settled cases and an extensive thematic review of the decisions upheld during the year, addressed to intermediaries' complaints offices, legal experts and anyone who wants to study in detail the content of the decisions.
