Born in Rome on 19 July 1957, she is employed in Banca d'Italia in 1979 by winning a scholarship. After the initial assignment to the branch network, she is transferred to the Head Office in Rome where, at the Technological Directorate (currently Banknotes Directorate), she has started her professional path in the field of banknote Design and Origination, at first as an expert and then in managerial roles.

She graduates in Physics at the University “La Sapienza” in Rome in 1984.

Since 1998, she has held various assignments for BdI within the ECB over the years, participating in working groups stably established to deal with banknote issues.

From 2006 until 2016 she participates, as BdI representative, in the Technical Committees of the 'European Banknote Conference'.

As from 2007 she is Head of the Research, Design and Pre-Press Division of the Banknotes Directorate. In that capacity, she promotes and coordinates the R&D activities of the Directorate and in 2012 she takes responsibility for the 'Eurosystem R&D Test Print Center', task assigned to BdI Printing Works by the ECB; in this area she takes care of the relations with the ECB, other interested NCBs and international partners.

Since 2015 she, as BdI representative, has been alternate member of the 'Banknote Committee' of the ECB and of the 'Banknote Committee Crisis Managers'.

As of October 2016 she is appointed Deputy Head of Banknotes Directorate and holds also the assignment of interim Head of Directorate until March 2017.

In March 2018 she is appointed Head of Production of the Banknotes Directorate, an ad-hoc role envisaged within the contemporary organizational restructuring of the Directorate, coordinating the strictly manufacturing activities among all the operational units of the Directorate and integrating them in the Directorate’s goals/objectives.

On 23 March 2020 she becomes Head of the Banknotes Directorate.
