Born in 1958, he was awarded a first-class degree in Law from Rome's La Sapienza University in 1981. He joined the Bank of Italy in 1983, working in banking and financial supervision at the Verona branch.

In 1986 he moved to Head Office and began to work in human resources management, moving up to managerial positions in which he dealt with the analysis and planning of staff requirements, recruitment and the distribution of professional skills, training, assessment and staff members' personal development.

In 2012 he became Head of the Personnel Management Department and since 27 January 2014 he has managed the Human Resources Directorate.

On 1 February 2017 he became Deputy Director General for Human Resources and Organization and was responsible for trade union relations.

On 1 December 2019 he became Secretary General and Director General for Human Resources and Organization.

He is the author of various publications on management and organization and is a conference speaker representing the Bank of Italy.
