ECB Annual Report for 2006

On 1 January 2007 Slovenia became the 13th Member State to adopt the euro, and Banka Slovenije became the 13th NCB to join the Eurosystem. The currency changeover from the Slovenian tolar to the euro proceeded in a very smooth and efficient manner: 94.5 million banknotes were introduced, starting with a  frontloading phase in late November 2006, and the period of dual circulation of both the euro and the tolar lasted for two weeks, after which time the single currency had completely replaced the Slovenian currency.
