The Chinese economyVenice, 25-27 November 2010

In memory of Maria Weber for her pioneering contribution in Italy to a better understanding of the Chinese economy.

The workshop is jointly organized by Bank of Italy, Fondazione Masi, the Department of Economics of Ca' Foscari University of Venice and the Venice International University, held in Venice, on November 25-27.

China's growing importance in the world economy has spurred in recent years the research of several Italian and foreign economists within institutions and universities. The workshop gathered some of these economists for two and half days of seminars on the recent evolution of the Chinese economy and the current and future economic ties between China and Italy.

In particular, the following issues analyzed more in depth:

- China in the global context

- The evolution of domestic demand

- Governance and financial market reforms

- Environment and sustainable development

- Economic ties between China and Italy
