Today the Bank of Italy has released Credit Supply and Demand in the Italian Regions.
Summary
In the first half of 2016 credit demand by firms increased throughout the country. With the exception of the North-East, demand increased more for larger banks. Credit conditions to firms eased throughout Italy, especially for larger banks.
In the same period the demand for credit by Italian households increased. The increase involved both mortgage loans and consumer loans. The increase in demand was higher in the North-West and South. After 2 years of easing, credit supply to households stabilized.
