Quality in the Bank of Italy's central procurement service

Centralized procurement at the Bank of Italy is consistent with international best practices, for the purpose of enhancing the quality of the products and services provided to user units. The Bank has obtained the quality certification UNI EN ISO 9001:2008, issued by the accredited certifying agency DET NORSKE VERITAS BUSINESS ASSURANCE.

The institution of a quality management system represents a strategic choice to increase the efficiency and enhance the transparency of the Bank’s expenditure procedures. The choice has entailed the creation of a single unit – the “global buyer” – responsible for all the Bank’s tenders. Through its Directorate General for Property and Tenders the Bank ensures clear identification and transparent traceability of the operational phases and decisions in procurement, in full compliance with the legislative and regulatory framework.

With the UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 certification of the central procurement service, the Bank qualifies as a contract tender institution committed to constant improvement of its spending procedures in terms of traceability, effectiveness and result quality.
