Investment and Investment Finance in Italy: Challenges and OpportunitiesPresentation of the EIB report on 'Investment and Investment Finance in Europe 2016'

Luigi Federico Signorini, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Italy, spoke today at the presentation of the EIB’s annual report on ‘Investment and Investment Finance in Europe 2016’ at the Bank of Italy’s Conference Centre in Rome.

The report contains the new annual EIB Investment Survey (EIBIS), a study of the investment decisions of the 12,500 firms sampled across Europe, including 622 Italian companies.

In his remarks at the start of the morning session, Deputy Governor Signorini underlined that ‘Investment weaves together demand and supply, the business cycle and the economic structure. In a country like Italy, where it is crucial that we tackle public debt, the quality of public spending and of general public measures to encourage investment is of even greater importance than elsewhere.’
