Workshop on the National Accounts of the Italian economy from 1861 to 2011

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Italian unification, the Bank of Italy, Istat and Tor Vergata University, in collaboration with other Italian universities, have sponsored a reconstruction of the time series of the national accounts.

The aim is to make available to the academic community and all interested scholars the basic statistics necessary to the study of the history of Italian economic development.

The project has produced the first continuous time series covering the entire period from 1861 to 2011. The workshop, held in Rome on 16 April, highlighted the principal features of the data in methodological and historiographical terms.
