In his Concluding Remarks in May, Governor Mario Draghi announced the Bank of Italy's intention to organize a conference in memory of Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa.
The conference was held on Friday 16 December 2011 at the Bank's headquarters in Rome. The conference gathered distinguished policymakers and academics to discuss the key themes at the centre of Padoa-Schioppa's work: monetary policy and payment systems, financial system regulation and supervision, European integration, and the reform of the international monetary system.
