Monetary, banking and financial statistics

This section features monetary, banking and financial market statistics and financial accounts data.

Since the launch of the euro area, monetary statistics refer to monetary financial institutions (MFIs), which constitute the money-issuing sector and comprise, in Italy, the Bank of Italy, banks, money-market funds, electronic money institutions and, from September 2006, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti S.p.A.

Together with the statistics produced on the basis of harmonized European definitions, this section also includes traditional statistical information on banks prepared by the Economic Research and International Relations Area.
It also, contains data on the amount and composition of Italian households' wealth.

In addition, this section gives data on OTC financial and credit derivatives (available only in Italian).

The new supplement "Money and Banking" presents the data previously contained in the supplements "Monetary and Credit Aggregates of the Euro Area: the Italian Components" and "Monetary Financial Institutions: Banks and Money Market Funds", available in Discontinued publications.
