ISIN Code Service

On 15 April 2013, the new conditions of use of the service provided by the Bank of Italy for the assignment and management of ISIN codes to financial instruments has become operative, replacing previous communications on this subject by the Italian Foreign Exchange Office and the Bank of Italy.

The service uses a new on-line Securities Database application (FEAT - Front End Anagrafe Titoli) instead of the current system of interaction with applicants via e-mail, enabling users to input information, make consistency checks, transmit data and documents, and review the outcome of their communications.

The application is accessible at https://infostat.bancaditalia.it and requires prior authorization. It is therefore recommended that the intermediaries and companies intending to use the service request authorization as soon as possible and in any event, register well in advance of the time of use.

Resident banks and SPV will use FEAT for reporting of their security issues identified by an ISIN code with a prefix other than IT. Requests for the inclusion of financial instruments issued by foreign entities in the Securities Database, for reporting purposes, will remain unchanged and users may continue to write at the e-mail addresses codifica.estero@bancaditalia.it and titoli.estero@bancaditalia.it.

Moreover, requests for ISIN codes assignment to units in Italian UCITS and subsequent updates can continue to be sent, respectively, to codifica.italia@bancaditalia.it and titoli.italia@bancaditalia.it until such time as the GIAVA procedure (Gestione Integrata Albi di Vigilanza e Anagrafi) for internal supervisory communications between asset management companies and the Bank of Italy has been activated.
