Business Outlook Survey of Industrial and Service Firms

This survey, conducted at the beginning of autumn each year with the help of the local branches of the Bank, is addressed to Italian firms with 20 or more employees in industry and services.

The questionnaire, mainly qualitative in nature, includes questions on investments, orders, sales, debts, employment, salaries and other variables relevant to the short-term economic outlook.

The results, which are normally commented upon in the October issue of the Bank of Italy’s Economic Bulletin, are also published in a specific issue of the Supplements, starting with the survey on 2006.

Statistical processing of data collected from firms is possible through the remote processing system BIRD.
