The Bank of Italy owns and manages the country’s official reserves. Article105.2 of the Treaty on European Union establishes that these reserves, along with those of the other National Central Banks (NCBs) and the official reserves of the European Central Bank (ECB), form part of the reserves held by the Eurosystem.
Information concerning recent developments in reserves management can be found in the Report to the Parliament and to the Government, whose links are provided below.
The Bank of Italy also manages a share of the reserves transferred to the ECB at the start of Stage three of EMU.
