Findings Aids

There are four types of finding aids available for researchers:

  • The Archea Database
The computer database (Archea). This is the most important and powerful tool for scholars to use. Rapid and highly analytical document searches can be carried out. The database includes many fonds of the Historical Archives and can be consulted, for now, at the Head Office Historical Archives and at the branches.
  • Guide to the Archives
The Guide to the Historical Archives. Published in 1993, it provides a very interesting summary of all the documentation available in the Archives at that time.
  • Historical Archives Working Papers
Publications › Archival and Bibliographical Publications
Since February 2010 a series of papers related to the work of the Historical Archives: inventories of the most important archival fonds; various materials requiring a long period of study; collections of particularly important documents (reports, correspondence, periodic reports, etc.); guides to sources for specific subjects; and monographs on themes related to the holdings. Historical series of the Bank of Italy and Historical research papers (publication suspended) employ documents from Historical Archives: mainly Historical research papers nn. 2,3,4 and 9.
  • Other Finding Aids
Other research tools. These are mainly papers that, in some sections, are complementary to the other available finding aids. Papers also contain inventories or guides to sources for specific subjects.
