The Multimedia Archives, destined to grow in the future, include the Audiovisual Archives and the Oral History Archives.
The Audiovisual Archives contain films, videos and sound recordings produced by the Bank in the course of its activities or, in any case, in its possession.
Among others, they contain video recordings of the Bank of Italy's annual shareholders' meeting, and of various other events (conferences, inauguration ceremonies for new offices, meetings, etc.), and all the audio and video recordings documenting particular aspects of the Bank's activities.
The Oral History Archives contain interviews with members of the Bank's Directorate and from the financial and banking world. The interviews are conducted as part of the Oral History Project with the aim of creating tools to study economic history with particular reference to the areas that fall within the official duties of the Bank of Italy.
The Multimedia Archives can be consulted in accordance with the current law on copyright. A project is under way to create a computerized filing system and to digitalize all sources in order to have a single gateway to the database of the two archives. Once this has been done, it will be possible to consult the documentation both in the reading room of the Historical Archives and at the decentralized branches.
