The Bank of Italy will act on communications that it deems to be valid and will reply by the most suitable means on a case-by-case basis. The following communications will be considered valid:

^_● documents transmitted by general government bodies if the conditions specified in Article 47 of the "Digital Administration Code" (Legislative Decree l82/2005 as amended) are met;

^_● requests and documents in electronic form transmitted by private persons (citizens and firms) if addressed to the Bank's certified e-mail address and signed by digital signature via a certificate issued by an accredited certifier (Article 65 of the Code), regardless of the sender's e-mail address.

E-mail communications lacking the above requirements will not be considered as official, and their registration as officially received will be subject to the judgment of the competent unit.

Messages from certified e-mail senders are equivalent to registered letters with notice of receipt.
