Until 31 December 1998 the exchange rates were set on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis (depending on the currency) using the exchange rates between the US dollar/foreign currency and the US dollar/Italian lira. The rates were then set daily for each single currency from 1 January 1999, both against the euro and the Italian lira, with the latter quotation ending on 31 December 2001.

The quotations for currencies marked with No. 74 are based on the procedures established by the ESCB. All the other quotations are worked out from the cross-rates. They are merely indicative and must not be considered official. They are obtained from either institutional or reliable market-reflecting sources. The Bank of Italy is not liable for any inadvertent inaccuracy or error.
