Nunzio Minichiello (Managing Director)

Born in Naples on 6 October 1951.

He graduated in Social and Political Science from the University of Naples in 1973 and in 1975 joined the Modena branch of the Bank of Italy. In 1977 he moved to the General Secretariat at the Bank's Head Office in Rome, where he was appointed head of the Security Office in 1981 and shortly afterwards of the then Banknote Circulation and Transport Division.

During that time he was a member of European and international working groups in the field of security and currency circulation.

From 1998 to 2005 he was in charge of logistics and maintenance at the Bank's Donato Menichella Centre.

In 2005 he was appointed Manager of the Banknote Printing Department, where he remained until 2012.

During that time he was a member of European Central Bank working groups in the field of banknotes and currency circulation. He was Chairman of the Policy Committee of the European Banknote Conference and member of the Executive Committee of the Central Bank Counterfeit Deterrence Group.

He is the author of articles on banknote production and currency circulation.

On 1 February 2012 he was appointed Managing Director of the Property and Purchasing Area.
